Join author Kara Bodegon-Hikino in a discussion about being a Filipina writer picked up by an international publisher while being a first-time mom, handling grief, and discovering what it’s like to be a graphic novelist.
We’ll talk about Philippine mythology, draw our own animal sidekicks, read from Kara’s book ‘Squalo and Mage,’ and maybe even listen to some local music—all over croissants and coffee.
For moms and dads, come in the morning (from 10am to 2pm) and bring the kids for a quick art activity and storytelling session!
Though you would need to pay the Historical Core entrance, the event is absolutely for free, including the Make Your Own Animal Sidekick art session. Bell House Library Card holders get special discounts when purchasing Kara’s book and merch.
