- Ozark Diner + BNB
Featured in the 60 Best Restaurants in the Philippines by Esquire Magazine back in 2022, Ozark diner offers the finest American food in Bakakeng. For the past 7 years, they have been welcoming guests from all around the globe for a cozy mountain getaway. It also offers a view of SLU SAMCIS Campus, which if your child is enrolling to, is the perfect spot for a visit.
2. Cafe Kafagway
If you want a quick getaway from the noise of Baguio City, then Cafe Kafagway is the way to go. It’s a cozy, nature themed cafe surrounded by greenery. It’s not a very well known cafe in Baguio, so you’re safe from overcrowding in one of the more popular coffee joints in the City of Pines. It’s literally a hidden gem in the city hidden in the mountains, so message your date and tell them to dress nice !
3. Cafe Urbana
Before turning left into Bakakeng Norte, Beside the 7/11 there exists Cafe Urbana. It’s a very nice cozy and instagrammable place with fair pricing on their food and drinks. The highlight is their specialty menu items such as Suman and Tableya, which is a sweet sticky rice snack(Suman) paired with locally grown hot chocolate sauce(Tableya). It’s one of our Filipino dishes that isn’t popular enough. Give it a try !
4. Ben & Ken
Onto the more lowkey restaurants, we have Ben&Ken, a humble and underrated restaurant in Bakakeng. Sitting on top of the 7/11 in front of Eagle Crest Phase 3, there lies an undiscovered treasure that has the most hearty Batil Patong. If you don’t know, it is a dish originating in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. It’s a savory noodle dish that’s showered in toppings; Bagnet, ground pork, pork liver, and 4 cheeky pieces of shanghai. I personally enjoy it around twice a week, and that I rave about it to my friends everytime they ask where we should eat around the area. If you haven’t tried Batil Patong, you should. It’s worth the hype.
5. Putahe ng Ina Ko
Another lowkey food spot in Bakakeng is “Putahe ng Ina ko”. Despite the slightly vulgar name, they have the heartiest, home cooked meals in Bakakeng. Located under Trhey’s Fitness Gym in Baguio, The staff and interior are quite nice, even though it’s a small space, eating there felt like a hug from my sweet mother. A notable item to try is their dumplings in soup; it seriously healed my soul.
