RUGI: A Storytelling of Beginnings Through Inks and Yarn
RUGI explores the uncertainty, struggles, prayers, and hope that accompany new beginnings. Through mixed-media works combining ink and yarn, I transform personal experiences of endings, transitions, and renewal into visual narratives.
The word “Rugi,” meaning beginning, represents the courage to move forward when one chapter ends. Sometimes, a new beginning leads us into unknown situations, our own wilderness where we are challenged to discover our calling and become more aware of God's plan for our lives. Ink symbolizes memories and experiences that leave lasting marks, which can either become our bondage or serve as stepping stones toward growth. Yarn represents the connections, relationships, and threads of faith that guide us throughout life's journey.
The exhibition unfolds through Biag, Gapas, Rugi, and Billit, reflecting life, struggle, beginning, and return. Together, these works explore how our experiences shape who we become and how every ending can open a path toward something new.
Through this exhibition, I invite viewers to pause, reflect, and connect the artworks with their own stories. RUGI is a reminder that beginnings may come with uncertainty, but they also carry the possibility of growth, hope, and blessing.
